Shining a Light on Solar Power

Monterey Bay Community Power

July 1st will mark a big change in the air on the Peninsula, but most people won’t even notice! That’s the day that residential PG&E customers in three counties (excluding King City and Del Rey Oaks) will be automatically switched and enrolled with Monterey Bay Community Power (MBCP), a local, publicly-owned utility who sells carbon-free, 100% green energy.  Billing, customer service, delivery and metering will still be handled by PG&E, but your energy? That will all be compliments of MBCP!

Do you have your own solar panels installed? The news gets even better! Perks from this new locally-controlled utility will include higher buyback rates than you’re currently seeing from PG&E for the surplus energy you send back to the grid!
