California Solar Incentives & Rebates

In California, residential and commercial customers receive rebates through the California Solar Initiative (CSI) program and, through 2016, a 30% Federal Tax Credit.  Depending on the cost of the system and other site-specific variables, these incentives can typically cover up to 40% of the cost of a commercial or residential solar system.

More specicially, the State of California rebate is 35 cents per watt. A typical 4 kw system could expect a rebate of  approximately $1400 from CA State and the Federal Tax credit is 30% of the net cost of the system (after the deduction of the state rebate).

For example: Using the 4kw system with a $30,000 gross cost, the State rebate of $1400 (35 cents per KW) and the Federal Tax credit of $8,530 (30%),  the net cost of this example system would be cut down to $20,000 after rebates and credits are applied.

There's never been a better time to go solar as local rebates go down over time. This creates a compelling incentive to install a solar PV system now rather than later.
